Extra Large Size Turquoise Cabochon
A beautiful turquoise gemstone highly polished on one side. The base of the stone which is flat has been lightly polished. The front reflects light, the back absorbs it.
The colour of the mineral turquoise can be deceiving because of the way the human eye perceives light. Therefore the exact shade of colour can vary depending on how much or how little light is being reflected.
The colour of this stone can look slightly more green or more blue. It totally depends on the angle of light.
The brown markings are remnants of the host rock in which the turquoise formed. These spidery veins are known as matrix.
Turquoise is one of only a few minerals to have given its name to a colour.
It's a fairly soft stone so must be handled carefully. Turquoise should never be exposed to moisture and should be kept away from heat.
