The front of this gemstone has been highly polished. The back has been polished for smoothness so has a dull lustre.

Crazy lace agate, which is mined in Chihuahua, Mexico, is believed to be between 65 and 142 million years old.

It's found mostly in marine sedimentary rocks.

There are many different types of lace agate.

The reddish-brown colour in crazy lace agate is likely to come from impurities of iron.
