Blue Calcite Rough Stones

The delicate blue hue of calcite is believed to come from impurities of oxidised copper.
As calcite is very soft, these stones have been coated with a fine, colourless resin. This offers some protection against flaking and crumbling while enhancing their vitreous lustre. However, calcite should always be handled carefully.
These fine-grade, blue calcite stones are from Mexico.
They're rough, unpolished stones, so have just been cleaned and filed to smooth sharp edges.
Because rough stone isn't typically cut to a specific size, the size varies from piece to piece. They're mostly medium to large sizes.
