Black Tigers Eye Gemstone
A finely polished black tiger’s eye cabochon, carefully selected for our collection of rocks and minerals.
Although tiger’s eye is best known as a brown and yellow coloured stone, it can also be found in red, black, and blue. The red and black varieties are produced through heat treatment, while the blue variety, correctly known as hawk’s eye, is natural.
This black tiger’s eye gemstone exhibits chatoyance on both sides. This is best seen as the stone is gently moved in dimmed ambient light.
Chatoyance is an optical phenomenon caused when light reflects off fine fibrous structures beneath the stone’s surface. The strength of the effect depends on the angle of light and how the stone has been cut.
