Sunstone Crystals Grade C
Sunstone is also known as aventurine feldspar. The name heliolite, from the ancient Greek 'hḗlios', meaning 'sun', and 'líthos' meaning 'stone', is another name, but is rarely used.
This feldspar mineral has a spangled appearance, although the characteristic tends to be more prominent in finer grade stones.
Minute inclusions of the minerals goethite or hematite cause the reddish-orange colour of sunstone. Occasionally, it can also be caused by copper.
The inclusions are responsible for the optical phenomenon known as aventurescence. Once again, this tends to be more visible in higher grade stones.
These sunstone crystals are grade C because there's less sunstone in the matrix. We also have grade-A sunstone in our collection.
These are small to medium-sized tumbled stones, but size does vary from piece to piece.
