Rose quartz is a pink variety of the mineral quartz.  The exact shade of colour can vary depending on where the stone was mined. 

For many years it was believed the pink colour was caused by titanium, manganese and iron.  Following a series of studies in the late 1990's scientists learnt pink fibres of a mineral similar to dumortierite was more likely to be the reason for the stone's colour.

These polished rose quartz spheres may be purchased with or without the polished hematite stand.  This elegant ring makes a perfect support for most crystal spheres.

The colour of rose quartz is generally believed to be stable.  This means it shouldn't fade if exposed to sunlight.  With that said some varieties are known to have lost colour after extensive exposure to bright sunlight.
