Rose quartz is a pink variety of the mineral quartz. The exact shade can vary depending on where the stone was mined. 

For many years, it was believed the colour of rose quartz came from titanium, manganese and iron, but following a series of studies in the late 1990s, scientists learnt pink fibres of a mineral similar to dumortierite were more likely to be the reason for the pink colour.

The colour of rose quartz is generally believed to be stable, which means it shouldn't fade if exposed to UV light. That said, some varieties are known to have lost colour after extensive exposure to bright sunlight.

With each rose quartz sphere being cut from natural stone, no two are the same.
