Raw Mookaite - Rich, Vibrant Colour
Rough mookaite, also known as mookaite jasper, although from a geological perspective, that's incorrect.
Mookaite can only be found in one location in Western Australia.
The stone's colours come from varying types and concentrations of iron oxides.
Although usually pronounced 'mookite,' the correct pronunciation should be 'mooka~ite' because the stone is named after Mooka Creek, where it's found.
These rough mookaite stones have an incredibly smooth texture and a dull lustre, which means they absorb light instead of reflecting it.
Being rough stone, size does vary from piece to piece.
