Tourmalinated Quartz Tumbled Stones

This natural stone is composed of quartz with needle-like inclusions of tourmaline. The combination of the two minerals creates a unique appearance.
Tourmalinated quartz is sometimes mistaken for rutilated quartz, which contains inclusions of the mineral rutile.
The tourmaline in this type of included quartz is schorl, which is typically black or a very dark colour.
Tourmalinated quartz ranges from transparent to translucent. The transparent material is not generally used for tumbling because it's relatively rare and hence, more expensive.
Tumbled tourmalinated quartz often has a slightly cloudy appearance.
These crystals are medium-sized tumbled stones, although size can vary from piece to piece.
