Dumortierite Crystals from Brazil
Beautifully polished, grade-A dumortierite tumbled stones from Brazil.
Dumortierite is a natural mineral that occurs in metamorphic rocks rich in aluminium.
The finest material features a mass of long, slender, fibrous crystals embedded in clear quartz.
Commercial-grade stones are quartz heavily included with dumortierite, which gives a deep, saturated colour.
This type of dumortierite is often referred to as dumortierite quartz.
We also have grade-B dumortierite in our collection. Lower-grade stones are more heavily included, so feature additional colours and markings.
Dumortierite was first identified as a mineral in 1881. It was later named after French palaeontologist Eugène Dumortier [1803-1873].
These finely polished dumortierite crystals are medium-sized tumbled stones, but size does vary from piece to piece. This is common for stones produced in a rock tumbler.
For smaller quantities, we'll choose larger stones, but for larger quantities, sizes will be mixed.
