Malachite Crystals (South Africa)
Fine grade malachite crystals from our collection of rocks and minerals.
Malachite is a relatively soft stone that must be handled carefully. Being soft makes tumbling difficult so it's not unusual for stones to have minor imperfections.
Most of the world's tumbled malachite is produced in industrial sized rock tumblers. Some stones (mainly those processed in India) are cut and polished by hand. Polishing malachite is not easy because being an ore of copper its dust is toxic.
Although malachite takes on a high polish minor abrasions or imperfections will often be present. If these don't come whilst stones are being tumbled it will almost certainly happen whilst being transported across vast distances.
With malachite being a copper mineral it must never be used as an elixir. An elixir is water infused with natural minerals.
If handling rough and dusty specimens of malachite it's good practice to wash your hands afterwards. With that said, whether rough or polished malachite is quite safe to handle.
When used for its healing properties malachite is powerful so should be used carefully. It amplifies positive and negative energy and can remove blockages that may be holding you back.
A balancing and protective stone it can help release memories of past conflicts and traumas.
The presence of copper is the reason it's such a strong conductor of energy.
The colour of malachite is stable so won't fade with exposure to sunlight.
Stones should not be allowed to get wet.
Our malachite crystals are a larger size tumbled stone. Size can vary from piece to piece.
