A real silver chain does not turn green or leave marks on your skin. When not being worn, silver chains should be kept covered or in a pouch to prevent tarnish.
Tarnish can be easily removed with a blue silver polishing cloth. Silver chains can also be cleaned in a chemical silver dip, although using this too often may leave faint marks on the silver.
Exposure to excessive heat or moisture will increase the rate at which sterling silver tarnishes.
