Finely Polished Ruby Zoisite Cabochon
A beautifully polished ruby zoisite cabochon. The base of this gemstone, which is flat, has not been polished.
The red corundum in ruby zoisite is often referred to as Longido ruby because it comes from the Longido mining district in Tanzania.
The green is the mineral zoisite, and the black inclusions are typically pargasite or tschermakite, both of which belong to the group of minerals known as hornblende.
The white markings present on the back of this cabochon may be calcite, quartz, or feldspar.
Although often described as a mineral, ruby zoisite is a rock.
This fine-grade ruby zoisite cabochon could be used in jewellery or would make an excellent addition to any collection of rocks and minerals.
