Finest-Grade Black Tigers Eye Cabochon
A fine black Tiger’s Eye cabochon, beautifully polished and strikingly chatoyant.
When we found this gemstone, it was waiting to be cut and repolished due to a chip on one end and minor damage on the other. During visits to our stone supplier in India, we always rummage through this basket and often discover gorgeous stones that we can buy at less than half price.
I imagine this cabochon may have been mounted in a setting, and the damage occurred while being removed. However, it's a beautiful piece and we were happy to take it despite these imperfections.
The chip on one end, which can be seen in our photos, isn’t visible from the top, so would be hidden if mounted in jewellery. The imperfection on the opposite end, which can also be seen in our photos, is a small indentation that is also not visible from the top.
The gemstone has been finely polished and becomes wonderfully chatoyant as soon as it catches the light.
