Beautiful Malachite Stone - Collector's Piece
Natural malachite, part-polished stone with distinctive banding.
This unique piece exhibits a vibrant green colour. One face has been cut and polished to reveal the stone's layered patterns, while the upper surface retains a natural botryoidal formation, adding texture and contrast.
In dimmed ambient light, sparkling crystals can be seen across the base of the stone.
The banded section is the only part to have been polished. It shows excellent definition, with alternating light and dark green layers typical of high-quality malachite.
Malachite has been used as an ore of copper for thousands of years. Today, chalcopyrite is the most abundant copper ore mineral.
This malachite is from the Kolwezi mining district in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where some of the world's finest malachite is found.
