Chevron Amethyst Rough Stones
Three raw chevron amethyst stones from Brazil.
This mineral is also known as banded amethyst. In metaphysical circles, the name Dream Amethyst is now also being used.
These chevron amethyst stones have been washed and lightly sanded to smooth rough edges but are otherwise in their natural state.
Polishing rocks and minerals enhances colour and subtle features.
The name Chevron Amethyst comes from the distinctive V-shaped patterns of white quartz.
Each white band represents a different phase of growth and crystallisation. The amount of white quartz in chevron amethyst can vary significantly. The unique patterns are shaped by several factors, including temperature and pressure during the mineral's formation.
Please bear in mind this is rough stone that has been smoothed to remove roughness, but is unpolished.
The lights used to take our photos have made the colours look slightly more saturated than they are in natural light. This is common when photographing rocks and minerals, especially purples in Chevron Amethyst and other translucent or banded minerals.
