Chrysoprase Crystals from Tanzania

Chrysoprase is a green variety of chalcedony which is a microcrystalline type of quartz.

Its striking colour comes from impurities of nickel.  The shade of green can vary depending on where the stone was mined.

These chrysoprase tumbled stones were cut from material mined in Tanzania.  We also have chrysoprase from South Africa. 

The colour of chrysoprase can fade when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. 

Due to its colour chrysoprase is sometimes mistaken for jade.

As with all stones produced in a rock tumbler size and shape does vary from piece to piece.  These large, grade A chrysoprase tumbled stones have been beautifully polished.
