Ruby Zoisite Rough Rock
A particularly interesting piece of ruby zoisite from our collection of rocks and minerals.
This relatively rare mineral can only be found in Tanzania.
Composed of red corundum, green zoisite and black hornblende, it's a striking stone mostly used for decoration.
The back of this ruby zoisite stone is heavily included with another mineral that could be quartz, calcite, feldspar or any number of other other minerals.
It's difficult to say what it could be without having it tested.
When moved gently in dimmed ambient light, minute crystals can be seen as they reflect light.
This piece has been washed and filed to smooth rough edges but is otherwise untouched.
Ruby zoisite, also known as ruby in zoisite, is a rock, not a mineral.
