Chrysoprase Healing Properties and Meaning

What is Chrysoprase?

The colour of chrysoprase, which is a type of green chalcedony, comes from impurities of nickel. Its crystals are so small they can only be seen with powerful magnification.

Not all green chalcedony is chrysoprase. For a green chalcedony stone to be classed as chrysoprase, its colour must come from nickel.

Although stones with a rich apple-green colour are the most highly sought-after, chrysoprase occurs in several shades of green.

Citron chrysoprase, also known as lemon chrysoprase, is not chrysoprase. It's nickeloan magnesite, which is a different mineral.

Chrysoprase Healing Properties

When used for its metaphysical healing properties, chrysoprase is said to promote emotional balance and inner peace.

It's associated with compassion, forgiveness and acceptance of oneself and others. Practitioners use it to let go of resentment, jealousy and old grievances, replacing them with forgiveness, understanding, and kindness.

Chrysoprase is a stone of hope and new beginnings, whose colour links it with growth. It's believed to boost career success, particularly when starting a new job, and may be carried to bring luck, fortune, and abundance.

Chrysoprase encourages optimism and a lighter outlook on life. Its energy is gentle and calming.

Chrysoprase and the Heart Chakra

In crystal healing, green stones are associated with the heart chakra. Chrysoprase can open the heart to love and heal emotional wounds, particularly those left by broken relationships.

Some practitioners also connect it with the solar plexus, which is associated with confidence and personal power. Therefore, chrysoprase may also be used to support self-esteem, confidence, and public speaking.

How to Use Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase can be worn as jewellery, or a tumbled stone can be carried. It may also be used for meditation. When placed under the pillow, it's believed to ease restless sleep and prevent bad dreams.

Prolonged exposure to sunlight and heat can cause the stone's green colour to fade. Chrysoprase can be cleansed in water, but salt is not recommended.
