AAA grade mookaite tumbled stones, highly polished, exceptionally tactile. Mookaite is an exceptionally colourful variety of jasper that's found exclusively in Western Australia. As well as being popular with mineral collectors and crystal healers, it's highly sought after for use as a gemstone but although relatively hard, it's also quite brittle which can sometimes make cutting a challenge. Being opaque means that mookaite is usually cut as a cabochon and it's well known for taking on an exemplary polish.
When used in crystal healing mookaite is said to be a protective stone which offers strength hence it's perfect for those who have recently been bereaved or feel they are alone in the world. It's a great companion during meditation and encourages new experiences and a deep calm with which to face them.
Shortly after being discovered this variety of jasper was given the name mookaite by locals after the area where it was found and although the name has never been officially recognised, it tends to be used more often than the alternative which is Australian Jasper. It is often referred to by a number of other names as well all of which strangely, are very similar to mookaite. Some of these include mookalite, mokite and mook jasper.
