Polished Crystal Quartz Terminated Point

An impressive clear quartz crystal point from our collection of rocks and minerals.

This slightly chunkier piece is crystal clear with some very subtle inclusions towards the base.

In its purest form quartz is colourless and transparent.  This material is also known as rock crystal.  The name came about during the late Middle Ages and was used to differentiate clear quartz from a new material known as colourless glass.  The glass was also known as crystal glass.

Quartz acts as a prism so by looking through this crystal at just the right angle you can see the different colours of white light.  Hold the quartz crystal horizontally up towards natural daylight (or towards your computer).  Bring it close to your eye and rotate it very slowly.  As you look slightly downwards you'll see a spectrum of colours.

White light is made up of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.  As white light passes through a denser substance each colour travels at a different speed.  As they come out the other side they speed up again.  This phenomenon is known as refraction of light.

When used for its healing properties quartz is known for its ability to amplify the energy of other crystals. This makes it a great choice for use in crystal grids or to use along with other crystsals in order to enhance their energy and healing ability.
