Pink Opal Cabochon Delicate Colour
This finely cut pink opal gemstone has the most subtle colour. For this reason it was difficult to capture well in a photo.
The colour is completely natural.
Being cut as a cabochon the base is flat and the top is slightly rounded.
It has been finely polished and reflects light beautifully.
Pink opal is a type of common opal. Its chemical composition is almost identical to precious opal with the only exception being it doesn't exhibit 'play of colour'.
Common opals can be found in many countries around the world and occur in several colours. Most pink opal comes from Peru and Western Australia.
