Blue Sheen Labradorite Stone
Labradorite is a variety of the mineral feldspar.
This polished stone has the smoothest texture so once in your hand it's really difficult to put it down.
It's highly translucent so when held towards the light you can see right through it. Turn the gemstone so the top is facing upwards and a vivid blue sheen can immediately be seen.
This impressive flash of colour does not come from the labradorite, it's the reflection of light. It's produced as light reflects off crystals beneath the surface of the stone.
In our first photo it's being gently illuminated from different angles. The last photo was taken with nothing more than natural daylight coming through an adjacent window.
The base of this labradorite stone is flat. It's highly polished and incredibly iridescent on both sides.
