Rainbow Fluorite Pendant
Pear Shaped Rainbow Fluorite Pendant
Rainbow fluorite pendant mounted for Stone Mania in a slightly chunkier sterling silver setting. One of the most fascinating characteristics about rainbow fluorite is that the more light this translucent gemstone has behind it the more magnificent it becomes. When held up in front of a bright light the colours that can be seen in this stone epitomise the reason why it's called "rainbow" fluorite. In our first photograph the stone is being lit up from behind.
Rainbow fluorite is a fragile mineral which can make working with it for lapidary purposes particularly challenging. Grading 4 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness it needs to be handled gently and may well crack or fracture if knocked or dropped. For this reason it's not unusual for stones to have minor nicks, fractures or indentations but rainbow fluorite is a mineral that's sure to be enjoyed by anyone who loves natural crystals, rocks and minerals.
This fluorite pendant has been included in our collection of jewellery on sale in the Bargain Basement because there's a minor indentation on the lower section of the gemstone which can be seen in our second photograph although it does appear to be significantly larger than it actually is because our photographs are taken with a powerful zoom lense. Despite this anomaly this stone is a beautiful piece of rainbow fluorite that certainly won't disappoint.
