Kambaba Jasper Pendant
Hand Crafted Kambaba Jasper Pendant
Kambaba Jasper pendant crafted for Stone Mania in a fine sterling silver setting. This striking ladies pendant features a finely cut and highly polished cabochon with distinctive colour and markings. It has been been crafted by hand by one of a small of talented artisans with whom we've been working since 2003.
This variety of jasper can only be found in Madagascar and is used primarily for lapidary purposes. The geological make-up of Kambaba Jasper stems from a stromatolite which is a rock-like structure that forms in shallow seas. It's built from bacteria that has gradually over many years been replaced by silica. Some of these fossils are believed to date back around three billion years.
Kambaba Jasper is a unique stone that cannot accurately be described as a mineral in its own right because as with all varieties of jasper, it includes a large percentage of other minerals and substances.
The reason for this piece being added to our Bargain Basement is because there is a very minor anomaly on one side of the gemstone which 'could possibly' have been polished out. Although the imperfection resembles an indentation it cannot be felt and can only really be seen when the stone catches the light at certain angles. If you look carefully at our first photograph it can just about be seen slightly above centre on the right side of the cabochon. The anomaly measures three millimetres by one millimetre. As with any item that you purchase from Stone Mania, should you not be entirely satisfied with this Kambaba Jasper pendant it may be returned for a full refund (T&C's apply).
