Amethyst pendant dramatically reduced due to a minor imperfection on the surface of the cabochon. This amethyst crystal features a rich purple coloured gemstone mounted in a hand crafted sterling silver setting. The stone is highly translucent and in our first photograph it's being illuminated by our lighting. No post production enhancements of any kind have been made on the stone.
The unmistakable colour of amethyst which is the purple variety of the mineral quartz, is caused by impurities of iron and manganese and it has been used as a gemstone for thousands of years. Some of the world's finest amethysts can be found in famous jewellery collections around the world and the British Crown Jewels includes an enormous stone mounted in the Royal Sceptre with the Cross.
As well as being one of the most popular of all gemstones, amethyst is also the birthstone for the month of February.
This amethyst pendant has been included with our sale jewellery in the Bargain Basement because there are some minor anomalies on the left side of the stone which can be seen in our second photo. Some of these are due to inclusions but there's also a minor chip on the surface that's smaller than a pin head. This tantalizing amethyst pendant is a great buy for someone who loves this gemstone and who's not overly bothered about a minor imperfection.
