An elegant seraphinite pendant from Stone Mania crafted in a fine sterling silver setting. Seraphinite is a rare mineral that's mined in Eastern Siberia which is the only place in the world where it's ever been found. Boasting a distinctive rich green colour, it's popular for use in ladies jewellery hence stones are often carved as cabochons but it's worth noting that seraphinite is relatively soft so it must be handled with care.
The white feather-like markings that can be clearly seen in the finer grades are inclusions of mica which is a soft, flaky mineral that's been found in cave paintings dating back 40,000 to 10,000 years B.C
Seraphinite is not exported out of Siberia in large quantities so fine grade stones can be quite difficult to find. It is undoubtedly a very beautiful gemstone and one that we love using in our collection of ladies pendants. Sadly our photos do not really do this piece the justice that it deserves and to fully appreciate this rare mineral, you need to have it in your hands.
This beautiful seraphine pendant has been crafted by hand by one of a small team of artisans with whom we have been working for many years.
