Elegant seraphinite pendant from Stone Mania crafted in a highly polished sterling silver setting. Seraphinite is a rare mineral that can only be found in Eastern Siberia. Boasting a wonderfully distinctive rich green colour, it's popular for use in ladies jewellery hence stones are often polished into cabochons but it's worth noting that it is extremely soft so must be handled with care.
The white feather-like markings that can be seen in the finer grades of seraphinite are inclusions of mica. Mica is a soft and flaky natural mineral that's been found in cave paintings dating back 40,000 to 10,000 years BC.
Seraphinite is not exported from Siberia in great abundance so the finer grade stones can be very difficult to find. It is undoubtedly a beautiful and fascinating gemstone and one that we love to use in our collection of ladies pendants. In many gemstones the white inclusions of mica are very slightly chatoyant but sadly this optical phenomenon is extremely difficult to capture well in a photo.
As with all of the ladies pendants in our collection, this seraphinite pendant has been crafted by hand by one of a small team of talented artisans with whom Stone Mania have been working for many years.
