Picasso Marble Pendant
Picasso Marble which is also known as Picasso Stone and Picasso Jasper although the latter is not deemed to be geologically correct, is a metamorphic rock which occurs in only a few countries around the world. It's very distinctive and popular as a lapidary material and when cut as a gemstone, is almost always cut en cabochon. The stone that we chose for this ladies pendant has an unusual and interesting box cut and is mounted in a fine, sterling silver setting.
Picasso marble is said to have been named after Pablo Picasso because its markings were believed to have an abstract appearance however we have not been able to confirm conclusively whether that's factual or not. Finding evidence to confirm certain information that's associated with gemstones can be very difficult and if we're not certain that something is true, we'll always make that very clear. There's already far too much inaccurate information available online without us adding to it. That said, the explanation for the name Picasso Marble does seem quite feasible and it does feature in many references yet it is never confirmed conclusively, that this is the real reason why the stone ended up with this name.
