Unmistakeable phosphoiderite pendant mounted in a classic sterling silver setting. This relatively rare gemstone which comes primarily from Chile is a form of iron phosphate and if you're unsure exactly what that is, it's used as an ingredient to kill slugs and snails. That said, this chemical compound is also used to fortify many of our foods including bread.
Phosphosiderite boasts a unique colour and stones can also feature subtle yellow coloured veins. It's brittle and relatively soft so must be handled carefully but it's a great gemstone to have as part of your collection. Sadly phosphosiderite is not particularly well known and finding nice quality cabochons can be quite a challenge.
This phosphosiderite pendant had been crafted by hand exclusively for Stone Mania but unforutnately it's one of the very few pieces that we currently have available. Highly polished and silky smooth to the touch, it exhibits a single yellow vein close to the lower left side of this oval shaped stone which is so subtle it can hardly be seen.
