Orange Calcite Pendant
A curiously tactile orange calcite cabochon crafted as a ladies pendant in a fine sterling silver setting. Being translucent means that the crystal lattice within this orange calcite gemstone can easily be seen as it's held up towards the light. If like us you're captivated by natural crystals, rocks and minerals, this subtle characteristic will definitely add further magic to this colourful gemstone.
Calcite is one of the most common minerals on Earth and it forms many rock types including limestone, marble and travertine. Used extensively in Ancient Egypt, orange calcite was at that time referred to as alabaster and was used in everything from buildings to vases. The Sphinx of Memphis is the largest calcite statue to ever have been discovered.
Despite being so readily available, orange calcite remains popular for use as a gemstone and is generally cut and polished as a cabochon. This orange calcite ladies pendant has been crafted by hand by one of a small team of artisans with whom we we've been working for almost twenty years. Hardly any machinery at all is used to create the sterling silver settings that we use for our gemstone pendants.
