Green Fluorite Pendant
Fascinating green fluorite pendant crafted in a timeless sterling silver setting.
Photographing translucent minerals is no easy task and it can be difficult to capture the exact colour of a stone because it changes depending on the amount of light that's present and also the angle from which the photograph was taken. To describe this green fluorite cabochon as having a minty green colour would be pretty accurate and with it being translucent, you can also look deep into Mother Nature's handiwork.
Fluorite is a fragile mineral which must be handled with care and if knocked or dropped it will fracture or even worse, shatter completely. Stones have a vitreous lustre which describes the way that they interact with light and this type of stone will often have a texture and/or appearance that's similar to glass. On Mohs scale of mineral hardness fluorite grades 4 fluorite grades 4 and it is in fact the index mineral for this level of hardness.
Fluorite occurs in many different colours and when several colours are present together in layers or zones, the stone is usually referred to as rainbow fluorite.
