Fossilized Coral Pendant
Fossilized Coral Ladies Pendant
Fossilized coral pendant featuring a meticulously chosen polished cabochon. This intriguing mineral dates back approximately three hundred and fifty million years, material found in Indonesia and along the shores of Lake Michigan in the United States is correctly known as hexagonaria. This species of coral lived in the sea for millions of years but is not the same as the protected and endangered coral that's found today on reefs in many of the world's oceans.
One characteristic that makes fossilised coral particularly suitable as a lapidary material is that its light weight and when stones are carefully chosen, they can make wonderfully unique pieces of jewellery. This fossilised coral pendant has been crafted in a fine sterling silver setting by one of a small team of artisans with whom we have been working for almost twenty years.
