A very special charoite pendant from our collection of crystals, rocks and minerals. This highly polished gemstone is almost unrecognisable as charoite which is the very reason why it attracted our attention.
The mineral charoite is best known for its rich purple colour and impressive swirling patterns but neither of these characteristics are present in this cabochon. Chaorite can usually be easily identified on sight alone but every now and then you come across a piece that's so unusual that even the most experienced mineralogist would struggle to identify it.
Charoite which is found in just one location in Russia cannot be found anywhere else on Earth and the mineral was kept a well guarded secret until 1978. Having finally found its way out of the country it soon became highly sought after by rock and mineral enthusiasts around the world. It's still classified as a rare mineral and is popular for use in jewellery, for other lapidary purposes and also with collectors. The finest grade material is rarely seen outside of Russia.
This unique charoite gemstone has been crafted as a ladies pendant in a fine sterling silver setting and is most definitely the only piece of its kind that we have in our collection.
