Rainbow Calsilica Pendant
Rainbow Calsilica Gemstone Pendant
Rainbow calsilica "gemstone" boasting striking blue colour and wonderfully unique markings. This curious man-made material was originally claimed to be a natural rock from Chihuahua in Mexico and was first introduced to the world famous Tucson rock and mineral show in 2001. After the initial excitement of this new find died down, a small group of experts started digging for information in order to establish whether it really was natural or as they suspected, man-made.
Due to the presence of some natural minerals including hematite, celestite and calcite it wasn't immediately obvious that it wasn't completely natural but further tests soon revealed that rainbow calsilica was indeed an imposter. It was certainly a daring and audacious idea to try and pass a man-made stone off as a natural material at the world's largest rock and mineral fair and for a while the people behind this curious material almost pulled it off. In the months after first being shown its popularity spread around the world and the stone was in high demand but it's success was ultimately the cause of its downfall.
Rainbow calsilica makes a colourfully eye-catching ladies pendant and it's a "stone" that for the time being we still enjoy having as part of our collection. Mounted in a hand crafted sterling silver setting, this light weight gemstone pendant is sure to attract plenty of attention and comes in its own stylish gift pouch that will help to protect the silver from tarnishing when not being worn.
