Labradorite pendant and a particularly magical piece at that. Labradorite is the chameleon of the mineral world because it's a stone whose colour appears to change as it's viewed from different angles. Sadly capturing the beauty of labradorite on camera is tough because the labradorescence (also known as schiller) can only be seen when the stone is gently being moved hence catches light from different angles. As light reflects off the crystals colours and luminescence can clearly be seen and in this piece, reds, greens and greys are all clearly visible on both sides of the cabochon.
Labradorescence is an optical phenomenon that's seen in the gemstones labradorite and moonstone both of which are varieties of the mineral feldspar. Caused by reflection of light, the effect is more visible and often more dramatic in stones that are heavily included or that have fissures or other anomalies within the stone.
The flashes and colours that can be seen in this piece of labradorite will certainly keep you entertained and if you've never had labradorite in your collection, this piece is sure to get you hooked.
As with all of our ladies pendants, this piece has been crafted by hand in a fine sterling silver setting.
