A spectacular charoite pendant for ladies who like their gemstone jewellery to be seen. Featuring an incredible rich purple coloured cabochon mounted in an elegant sterling silver setting, this stone was an exciting find and as soon as we saw it we knew it would make a fantastic pendant. The colour and patterns in the mineral charoite are quite unique and stones of this calibre also exhibit slight chatoyance.
Charoite is a relatively rare mineral which can only be found in one location worldwide. It was virtually unknown outside of Russia until 1978 and is believed to be named after the Chara River Valley in Siberia where it's found. It's used used primarily as a lapidary material and tends to be cut as a cabochon.
This large and chunky charoite pendant is a show stopping piece of jewellery that's certainly not for the faint hearted. We recommend that whenever not being worn it be covered with a soft cloth to protect the gemstone and also to reduce the build up of tarnish on the sterling silver. Alternatively just use the stylish gift pouch that comes with the pendant.
