Blue Polychrome Jasper
Distinctive blue polychrome jasper pendant mounted in a hand crafted sterling silver setting. The subtle colours and tranquil patterns in this relatively unknown gemstone variety make it particularly appealing. Found only in Madagascar it's believed to have been discovered around 2006 and is classified as an opaque variety of chalcedony.
The colours in this slightly translucent cabochon are best described as bluish grey and khaki and although it can't really be appreciated from our photo, the stone is highly polished. Whilst the shape of the pendant appears to be oblong the right side is actually shorter than the left which is not an imperfection but the way it was designed. The side on the left measures 4.7 centimetres whilst the side on the right measures 4.6. The line at the top of the pendant is almost perfectly horizontal whilst the line at the bottom slopes upwards to meet the shorter side. Despite our efforts we were not able to capture the shape accurately in our photo.
As with all of the gemstones in our collection this piece was carefully chosen by a member of our team. Sadly it's the last piece of blue polychrome jasper that we have available in our collection.
