Cuprite is a minor ore of copper, the name comes from the Latin word "cuprum" which means copper. The tiny reddish coloured crystals are the mineral cuprite and are encrusted into a copper matrix. This relatively soft mineral which grades just 3½ to 4 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness is an oxide mineral which occurs close to other copper minerals such as malachite, azurite and chrysocolla.
When used for the purpose of crystal healing cuprite is said to assist with exploring past lives and for dealing with difficulties with an authoritarian figure whether they be in the past or present. It also helps to relax the mind with regards to worry and situations over which we have no control.
This cuprite comes from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia.
