Black Quartz Point
Black quartz point with a smaller terminated point on one side and another tiny point attached to the main head. There's also a further partially developed point embedded into the side.
In its purest form the mineral quartz is colourless but various impurities bring about a change in colour. As well as the dark brown and black varieties which are generally referred to as smoky quartz, other colours include purple which is best known as amethyst, white which is milky quartz although this variety is not that well known and pink which is rose quartz. Orange or yellow varieties of quartz are known as citrine. Quartz is a chemical compound called silicon dioxide or silica, it has a crystalline form and is found in all rock types.
In crystal healing a terminated quartz point with a smaller point attached to the side which is not large enough to be a twin is known as Dolphin Quartz.
The texture of this translucent black quartz point varies from rough to smooth, it boasts a vitreous lustre and is definitely a piece that will compliment any collection of rocks and minerals. It comes from the Ouachita (wosh-i-taw) and Ozark Mountains which stretch from West Central Arkansas to Southeastern Texas in the United States.
