Malachite Tumbled Stones from South Africa
Rich green coloured malachite tumbled stones in medium to large sizes.
Malachite is a relatively soft mineral so stones must be handled carefully. This characteristic also means it's not unusual for tumbled malachite to have minor surface imperfections.
Most of the world's tumbled malachite is produced in industrial sized rock tumblers. Rough stones are placed in a barrel filled with sand and water. As the barrel slowly rotates the stones become smoother and more rounded. With the mineral being so soft, surface damage as stones rub against each other is inevitable.
A polishing agent is used during the final stage of the tumbling process. Although malachite takes on a high polish, minor abrasions or imperfections in tumbled stones can often be seen. If these don't come from the tumbling process, it will almost certainly happen as large volumes of stones are moved and handled.
Being an ore of copper the dust from malachite is toxic. Whilst being cut and polished protective breathing equipment must be worn.
Malachite must not be used as an elixir which is water infused with minerals. If handling rough and dusty specimens it's good practice to wash your hands afterwards. With that said whether rough or polished, malachite is completely safe to handle and poses no risk to health.
When used for metaphysical purposes malachite is powerful so needs to be used carefully. It amplifies positive and negative energy and can remove blockages that may be holding you back.

The green colour of malachite is stable and its use as a pigment can be traced back as far as 1500 BC.
Stones should not be allowed to get wet because of the stones' toxicity. The high copper content is the reason for it being such a strong conductor of energy.
