Fine grade pink opal tumbled stones from Peru. The colour of these small and medium sized stones varies from almost white to a slightly richer shade of pink.
Pink opal is from the same family of stones as precious opal. The main difference is it doesn't exhibit 'play of colour'. Both stones are made up of hardened silica gel. They contain five to ten percent water in pores so small they're difficult to see even when magnified.
The name Common Opal came about simply because this coloured opaque variety is common and can be found in many countries around the world.
These fine grade pink opal tumbled stones are exceptionally tactile and reflect light beautifully.
