Tumbled Dumortierite Fine Grade Stones
Dumortierite is a natural mineral that occurs in metamorphic rocks rich in aluminium. The finest material often features a mass of long slender crystals embedded within the mineral quartz. Commerical grade dumortierite is in fact blue quartz that's heavily included with dumortierite.
The stone's distinctive blue colour means that it's sometimes mistaken for lapis lazuli or even sodalite but as with many rocks and minerals, when brought together it is quite easy to tell one from the other.
Dumortierite was first identified as a mineral in 1881. It was subsequently named after the French palaeontologist Eugene Dumortier (1803-1873). When newly discovered minerals are named after a person or a place it's quite common for the suffix "ite" to be used. Examples include sugilite, charoite, labradorite and englishite to name just a few.
These superior grade dumortierite crystals are a medium sized stone although exact weights and sizes do vary slightly from piece to piece. Highly polished and wonderfully tactile, they're perfect for adding to any collection of polished rocks and minerals and are also popular for use in alternative therapies including crystal healing and reiki.

Empathic warrior crystals are stones which have at some point in time sustained some kind of damage, usually a chip or fracture. With rocks and minerals having evolved over millions of years we do not believe in throwing stones away because of minor damage so instead offer them for sale at a significantly reduced price. Empathic warrior crystals are not always available and should this be the case, a refund will be issued before remaining items in the order are processed. For more information read our article on empathic warrior crystals.
