Charoite Tumbled Stones Grade A
Rich purple coloured charoite tumbled stones from the world's only deposit in Russia's Far East. The Sirenevy Kamen deposit lies close to the Chara River Valley in the Republic of Sakha, Siberia.
Prior to being officially identified in 1977 this rich purple coloured mineral was virtually unknown outside of Russia. Charoite is believed to have been discovered as early as 1949. Whilst it's mostly believed to have been named after the Chara River Valley, some argue the name actually comes from the Russian word 'charovat' meaning 'to charm' or 'bewitch due to its colour and appearance.
With Siberia being the only place in the world where charoite can be found, the finest material is difficult to find and can be expensive. Highly sought after by collectors and widely used for its metaphysical properties, charoite grades 5 - 6 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
These beautiful charoite tumbled stones are a medium sized stone but exact weights and sizes do vary slightly from piece to piece.
