Mookaite is a trade name for Australian Jasper, a wonderfully colourful natural stone used primarily for lapidary purposes. Although different varieties of jasper can be found all around the world mookaite comes exclusively from on relatively small area in Western Australia. Stones occur in a variety of striking colours and often take on a high polish. Being opaque as opposed to translucent means that it generally tends to be cut as a cabochon.
The reason for this ladies gemstone pendant being added to our collection of sale jewellery in the Bargain Basement is because the bale at the top is very slightly off centre although you'll need to look very closely to notice. Should you not be totally satisfied with your purchase it may of course be returned for a full refund (T&C's apply).
