Snakeskin Jasper Pendant
Jewellery Sale | Hand-Made Gemstone Pendant
Snakeskin jasper is one of many different types of jasper that can be found around the world. Mined in the Pilbara region of Western Australia this deep red and white patterned mineral is a banded iron formation and the location where it's found is home to one of the largest iron producers in the world. Banded iron formations are formed when iron rich sediments are expelled from underground vents into large bodies of water. As the iron settles it forms alternating layers which build up over millions over years which gradually harden and the process of metamorphism then introduces interesting patterns and other features within the stone. The area where snakeskin jasper is mined is believed to be around two and half billion years old.
This square shaped snakeskin jasper pendant has been crafted in a hand-made sterling silver setting by one of a small team of talented artisans with whom we have been working for almost twenty years. The reason it has been added to our Jewellery Sale is because the silver has not been hallmarked as it should have been. The setting is however sterling silver and it's the only metal that we have ever used for our collection of ladies gemstone pendants.
This highly polished wine coloured stone makes an elegant piece of jewellery that's comfortably light weight and is available at a totally unbeatable price.
