Chalcedony Pendant
Chalcedony Pendant On Sale
Small but chunky ladies chalcedony pendant featuring a subtle blue coloured translucent gemstone. Hand crafted in a fine sterling silver setting, this pretty stone has a silky smooth glass-like texture which is correctly described as a vitreous lustre. Stones with this type of lustre reflect light in a similar way to glass.
Chalcedony is a type of quartz that's microcrystalline in nature which means its crystals are too small to be seen with the naked eye and can only be seen under a microscope. Impurities of other minerals which occur during the stone's formation cause a wide variety of different colours.
Correctly pronounced kal SED uh nee, it's a relatively hard stone which grades 7 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Gem grade material that lacks significant colour is often dyed because as well as being porous, chalcedony retains dyes particularly well. Most blue chalcedony that's used in jewellery has been dyed but with that said, the colour of this stone as far as we are aware is completely natural.
The reason this chalcedony pendant is on sale is because the bale at the top has not been correctly centred. Although just off centre and only noticeable if you look very carefully, it is being offered at a significantly reduced price. In the event that you should you not be entirely satisfied with your purchase, it may be returned for a full refund (T&C's apply).
