Blue Topaz Loose Gemstones Concave Cut
Blue topaz faceted gemstones with a concave cut. This type of faceting involves cutting facets that curve inwards to scatter more light towards the centre of the stone.
Gemstones cut in this way tend to be lighter in weight because a considerable amount of material is lost. Cutting concave facets is time-consuming and complicated but the end result is really quite impressive.
Cutting concave facets into blue topaz is particularly difficult. Despite being a relatively hard mineral it's also very fragile. Stones can chip, fracture and break very easily.
These blue topaz stones have been faceted entirely by hand.
