It's not unknown for sodalite to be used as fake lapis lazuli not only because it's colour can be very similar but also because it's more readily available so considerably cheaper.
Ontario, British Columbia, Maine in the USA and Brazil have the largest deposits of sodalite hence these locations are also the world's largest suppliers. Smaller quantities can be found in Greenland, Russia, Montana and India.
The shades of blue in this polished cabochon vary from a slightly lighter shade to a rich navy blue. The splash of white colour is caused by inclusions of calcite and give the stone a particularly distinctive appearance.
This sodalite pendant has been reduced because there are a couple of minor indentations in the surface of the stone but you'll need to look carefully to find them. We don't believe they spoil the beauty of this piece by any means so if you're not bothered by a minor imperfection, this sodalite pendant certainly won't disappoint.
Should you not be totally satisfied with your purchase for any reason, it may be returned for a full refund (T&C's apply).
