Deep red coloured tigers eye gemstone crafted as a pendant necklace in a hand-made sterling silver setting. The reddish brown colour of this stone is produced by heating the more familiar brown and yellow variety of tigers eye. With the application of heat many rocks and minerals change colour and heat has been used to enhance or change the colour of stones for thousands of years. The practice was first recorded by the Ancient Greek philosopher Theophrastus (c.371 - c.287 BC) who wrote in depth about the effect that heat had on natural rocks and minerals. This polished cabochon gemstone was carefully chosen by one of our team prior to it being transformed into a necklace pendant. It's a slightly chunkier piece but still comfortably light weight. Weight (grams) : 26.3Size (cms) : 4.1 x 2.9 x 0.9
