Small Red Jasper Gemstone Pendant

Deep reddish brown coloured red jasper pendant crafted by hand in a fine sterling silver setting.  Highly polished and surprisingly light weight, this ladies pendant has been slightly reduced because there is a very minor natural indentation in the stone which could possibly have been polished out.  It can only just about be seen as the stone catches the light at certain angles but you'll need to look very carefully.  

Jasper is a variety of chalcedony that exhibits deep red to reddish brown colour caused by the presence of iron.  Many different varieties of jasper can be found around the world and colours and markings vary quite significantly.  The variation in colour and markings in jasper is the result of inclusions of different minerals and substances and for this reason, it's correctly classified as a rock not a mineral.
