Leopardskin Jasper pendant crafted by hand in a timeless sterling silver setting. The name of this distinctive variety of jasper came about because of its similarity to the coat of the big cat by the same name but it is in fact a type of Orbicular Jasper and Leopardskin is simply a trade name.
This colourful stone is used almost exclusively for lapidary purposes and being opaque, it's usually cut as a cabochon. It takes on a high polish and colours will often become more vibrant as the stone interacts with the light.
Jasper is a rock as opposed to a mineral that can be found in many places around the world but the variety known as Leopardskin Jasper comes predominantly from the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.
As with all of the gemstone pendants in our collection, this piece was crafted by hand by one of a small team of artisans with whom we have been working for almost twenty years.
